This session will explore the relationship of outside counsel to corporate counsel in a rapidly changing landscape driven by increasing data volumes, complexity, cost considerations and technology. Corporate counsel now expect outside lawyers (including co-counsel working on related or shared matters) to more readily utilize technology to increase efficiency, as well as to improve communication and the quality of work product. In addition, steps to improve transparency and collaboration are needed to improve corporate legal spend, decision making, and outcomes. This presentation will address the difficulties of collaboration between inside counsel and outside counsel today from a cultural, technological and security standpoint. We will also suggest new methods of bridging the gap by using features available in e-discovery software, and other platforms like Everchron, to better manage litigation information as a case moves from pre-complaint all the way to trial in a more collaborative and efficient manner.
