Steve Fletcher is Chief Information Officer at Best Best & Krieger LLP, a 200-attorney firm with nine offices nationwide, including Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego and Washington, D.C.  Steve has over 30 years of experience in law firm technology. He’s served in executive positions with Informatics Legal Systems and Financial Software, Inc. and has extensive strategic IT consulting expertise with medium to large law firms. Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger, Steve spent nine years as the CIO of a North Carolina law firm, and five years as Director of IT & Facilities at Maples and Calder in the Cayman Islands. A regular conference speaker and author, he is the 2009 recipient of the LTN “IT Director of the Year” Award.

Dwight Floyd is a scientist and (reformed) litigator advocating adaptive solutions for law firms in a rapidly changing environment.  Whether you believe the climate is changing or an asteroid is hurtling toward us (or already hit in the fall of 2008), the question is not just how we survive but how do we thrive in the face of these new pressures?  Three years ago, Dwight became the first Director of Knowledge Management at Parker Poe, a firm of about 200 attorneys in North and South Carolina.  He worked across practices and administrative groups to create and facilitate Pricing, Profitability, LPM, and KM/efficiency initiatives that were both practical and measurable.  He began his career as a commercial litigation associate at McKenna Long & Aldridge in Atlanta before becoming a partner at Parker Poe in Columbia, SC.  He is a graduate of Clemson University, Colorado State University, and the University of Virginia School of Law.

Clare Foley has been a driving force in the litigation services market for more than 23 years. In her current role, Clare advises law firms and corporate clients on their cloud collaboration strategies, specifically around the deployment of our Opus 2 Magnum platform. Although originally from Ireland, Clare lives in the US and guides both US business strategies and international services for Opus 2. Clare is a contributing author to several trade publications and she is a regular speaker on cloud technology. Putting the customer first is Clare's unswerving philosophy, which is directly in keeping with the Opus 2 culture. Clare started out in the Legal industry at Nightrider ( Later called IKON ) and went from here to head the services division of LiveNote, joining Opus 2 in 2010.

Ross Forgione an IT professional with 30+ years’ industry experience. Commencing his career as an engineer, designer and implementer of technical systems when computers weighed as much as a small vehicle, Ross has witnessed and been part of the profound impact that technology has had on our personal and professional lives.

Having worked in manufacturing, media, online and now professional services industries, Ross has a unique insight into the commercial, social and human resource benefits that can be derived from the effective implementation of IT services.

Realising that his impact in commercial businesses was limited as an engineer, Ross undertook and attained his Master’s in Business Administration from a Group of 8 accredited university. Ron Friedmann is Chief Knowledge + Information Officer for LAC Group. He helps clients and LAC find, use, organize, and re-use information and know-how. Part of his mandate is innovating how LAC delivers its services and results to clients.

He has extensive experience in information-intensive businesses, including law, management consulting, and data analytics. Over three decades, he has worked for two large law firms, two legal software companies, two legal consulting companies, and two legal outsourcing companies.

In many of these roles, Ron has innovated. He was early to work on multiple now common approaches in the legal market: created hypertext systems before the web was invented (1989); co-designed a digital system to manage paper in discovery with scanning, OCR, NLP, and structured databases (1990); co-conceived one of the first law firm Intranets (1995); built, explained, and promoted legal expert systems (1998); supported enforceable online contracts via digital signatures (2000); explained and delivered outsourced services in the legal market (2003); recognized and promoted the potential of AI applications in law (2006); wrote functional requirements for one of the first commercial LPM software products (2012); and started the legal market conversation around Blockchain by suggesting, organizing, and moderating first ILTA session on it (2016).

Before his work in the legal market, Ron worked as an econometrician for economic forecasting firm and management consultant at Bain & Company.

Ron is well-known in the legal market via his blog (Strategic Legal Technology), Tweeting, frequently published articles, and regular conference presentations.

Dennis Garcia is an Assistant General Counsel for Microsoft based in Chicago. He leads the legal support function to Microsoft’s U.S. Central Region Enterprise & Partner Group – a team of sales, technical and services professionals based in an 18 state region. Dennis received his B.A. in Political Science from Binghamton University and his J.D. from Columbia Law School. He is admitted to practice law in New York, Connecticut and Illinois (House Counsel).

Angel Garcia-Manso is Director of the IT Program Management Office for Goodwin. He is responsible for providing strategic leadership in program and project management processes and methods serving as the overall subject-matter expert in Project Management knowledge areas. In this position he engages with the CIO and IT leadership to evolve long-term and annual plans into executable portfolios of projects that properly consider business objectives, risk levels, service level measures, product roadmaps and appropriate resources.
