Chief Strategy Officer Kira Systems

Steve is the Chief Marketing Officer and head of business development at Kira Inc., maker of software that uses artificial intelligence to analyze contracts. Previously Steve was the General Manager for Business Law at Thomson Reuters, where he was responsible for strategy and commercialization of workflow solutions for transactional lawyers, including tools for securities research, deal points tracking, and contract drafting.

Steve holds a BA from Brown University, an MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a law degree from UCLA.  Steve is proficient in Japanese and lives in Washington DC.

Donna Payne is a recognized expert in IT, with specialization in legal software and technology. Payne speaks about privacy concerns, metadata, STEM and leadership. She has keynoted at conferences, spoken to Congress, and presented for government and security agencies worldwide. Donna authored and co-authored on 13 books on technology and is currently working on her first non-computer related book. Donna founded PayneGroup nearly twenty-five years ago and has worked with clients around the world throughout her time with the company. She is the recent recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award (2019) from the International Legal Technology Association and had previous won Thought Leader of the Year (2013) from ILTA.
