David Michel serves as the Chief Information Officer at Becker & Poliakoff where he is responsible for the firm’s technology infrastructure, assisting in the development of the firm’s strategic technology strategy and for the delivery of technology services to all of the firm’s offices.
Before joining Broad and Cassel, David served for over sixteen years as CIO, IT Director and in other IT leadership positions for law firms Broad and Cassel, Rissman Barrett, Burr Forman, Turner Padget Graham & Laney, and Ruden McClosky. David also owned and operated his own technology consulting firm for over five years and consulted extensively with Florida law firms as well as educational institutions such as the University of Miami, Florida State University and the University of South Florida.
David believes in keeping up with technology trends and has expertise in disaster recovery & business continuity, document management, project management, budgeting, virtualization, network operations, storage, email, and telecommunications systems.
David is a longtime ILTA volunteer, serving most recently as ILTA’s Regional Vice President for the Southeast region for six years. David has been asked to speak at numerous major industry conferences and trade shows and has contributed numerous articles in magazines and trade journals, and his work has been the subject of several “real world” case studies. David received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and has over 25 years’ experience in Information Technology, including over 20 years in legal IT with 17 of those years spent in a management role.
